The smoking ban of the UK, introduced in 2007, has effected 3 years. The smoking ban has in part contributed to the accelerated rate of pub closures around the country. Around 52 pubs are going out of business every week resulting in the loss of 24,000 jobs over the year. Many closed pubs have been bought by property developers with a view of turning them into flats. Locals choose to say home and smoke rather than to the pub where they have go outside for a cigarette.
But luckily, electronic cigarette is not affected by the ban, so pubs have the option to offer customers an e-cigarette to provide them with the freedom to smoke inside the pub legally.
